Stodec Says Happy 50th Birthday To Simon

In February 2015 our Design and Construction Manager, Simon Bateman, celebrated his 50th Birthday and also his 20 year anniversary with Stodec Products Ltd.

Simon’s career in the industry started as a 16 year old back in 1981 when he embarked on an engineering apprenticeship at Dexion in Maylands Avenue, Hemel Hempstead. The apprenticeship was in press tool making and experimental work, with the intention for him to eventually move into the R and D department at the site.

As with most things in life, original plans are usually changed and at the end of the 4 year period, he moved into the contracts  department and soon found himself running 30 to 40 small to medium projects at the same time.

It’s probably fair to say that during his 36 years in the industry, Simon has witnessed many general changes but also specific changes to Dexion itself, some of which were as a result of the closure of the Maylands Avenue site and the associated re-structuring of the company/brand in the years after.
